Nourishing your Life with Qigong

Qigong is a gentle slow movement that is relaxing and energizing at the same time.  It nurtures, unblocks and circulates the energy within our bodies.  Qigong incorporates breath work, visualization, sounds and meditation to bring healing on many levels...physically, emotionally and spiritually.

In practicing Qigong the body relaxes and the muscles soften.  The body begins to open and as you stretch and move, the body relaxes further and the energy moves more freely throughout your body.  The movement, breath, sounds, visualizations and intention all support and encourage the releasing of blockages and the gathering of qi.  This caring for ourselves gives us balance and strength to handle the outside activities throughout our day.

The Chinese word qi has many meanings.  In Qigong, it refers to the breath, energy or essence of life.  The word gong refers to work or cultivating.  So Qigong is the practice of energy cultivation.  Although the term Qigong has only been in use for a little over 50 years, its method and philosophy have been studied and refined for over 5,000 years.

Qigong can be practiced for general health improvement and for prevention of diseases.  Some forms focus on certain problems to improve an imbalance more directly and more quickly.  Some forms are stronger if practiced during a specific season or time of day.  So there are different forms from which to choose.

Qigong forms for classes and private instruction:

1000 Hands Buddha

This is a seated qigong form that uses mudras or hand positions to lead the
student into a centered and peaceful silence.  The method purifies the heart,
balances the emotions and stabilized the spirit.
Eight Treasures

This is one of the oldest Qigong methods in China originally developed for monks
to ease the joint problems acquired after long years of sitting in meditation.  this form
is designed to build strong bones, increase tendon flexibility, strengthen organ-energy
systems and balance the seven emotions.
Jade Woman

This qigong from is from the Liu Family lineage designed specifically for women.
Practicing this form will help to nourish the blood, cleanse the liver and improve
both physical and emotional imbalances.  It also addresses the issues related to
       reproductive health, weight and menopause.
Nourishing Woman

This is another qigong form from the Liu Family.  It focuses on nourishing and
tonifying the woman's body.  This form provides benefit to women of all ages in all
stages of the female cycles and transitions...especially effective with issues related
to the female reproductive organs such as infertility, pregnancy and childbirth.
Jade Tiger

This is the female tiger qigong practiced by Taoist nuns.  The tiger is associated with
the lung energy and physical health.  This qigong form will benefit the entire body and
help strengthen the lung energy and spirit.
Great White Crane
This is a graceful qigong form that benefits the lungs and strengthens the
immune system.  The movements help to regulate the breath, expand the lungs
and promote energy flow throughout the entire body.
Six Sounds Therapy
The use of healing sounds has an ancient history in China.  Sounds create vibrations
in our body that brings harmony and a sense of well being.  There is a sound that
resonates with each of the five internal organs and balances the emotions.  When we
make the sound ourselves the effect is more direct and profound than if we are just
listening.  Gentle movements accompany each of the sounds.
